OUR FOUNDER
Paul’s passion for motor racing led him to study Aerospace Engineering, with dreams of working in Formula 1. After roles at Qantas and Holden GM, he became disillusioned with the industry’s reliance on outdated, gas-guzzling technology.
In 2010, while researching lightweight sailplanes for potential electrification, Paul discovered the Joby Monarch eVTOL concept — a moment that shifted his focus to the future of electric flight. Today, he’s developing the manned eVTOL project Propal Solo (www.propal.aero). For Paul, progress is a sequence: before we run, we must walk — and before we fly eVTOLs, we must design, build, and fly quads.
Paul built his first quad in 2013. By 2015, he was exploring the idea of racing quads, which evolved into the Aeracer style drone. The project was briefly delayed in 2016, when he began collaborating with FPV pioneer Simon Jardine at Aerobot on an FPV race quad. That same year, the first 3-inch Aeracer took to the skies, followed by over a dozen more — along with numerous 4-inch and several 5-inch racing quads. The culmination was the Aeracer 5, which Thomas Bitmatta, former World MultiGP Champion, piloted to victory in its maiden race.
